Chiasmus Reading and Open Mic

Join us for the Chiasmus monthly reading series on Monday, April 29th from 6pm-7pm at Union Ave Books. This reading will feature two UTK writers: Andrew Lee Butler and Gabriel Antonio Reed! We also invite anyone interested to read after our featured writers for a 5-minute slot during the Open Mic portion. Face masks are encouraged, but not required.

Andrew Lee Butler is a writer from Kingsport, TN. A former host of Chiasmus, he recently defended his dissertation, Christ His Grace Is Sufficient Mobile Home Service and Transporting, Inc., and is set to graduate from the University of Tennessee next month. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Oxford American, Appalachian Review, McNeese Review, and elsewhere.

Gabriel Antonio Reed (he/him) is a poet from East Tennessee. He is pursuing his PhD at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and holds an MFA from Hollins University. His work has appeared in the Kenyon Review and Seneca Review, The Ekphrastic Review, Susurrus, and El Nieuwe Acá. He is an assistant editor at Red Flag Poetry. He lives with his spouse, Maggie, and daughter, Eloise, who loves sparkling water.
